What Is a JetPeel Facial, and What Does It Do?

A JetPeel facial cleans, exfoliates and hydrates your skin with a fine jet of air and serum. Here is how it works, who it suits and what to do after.

A JetPeel facial is a skin treatment with no needles. A small wand sends a fast, fine mist of air and serum at your face. That mist cleans the skin, lifts off dead cells and pushes hydrating serum in.

You can go back to your day right after, because there is no downtime. We offer JetPeel facials in London, Ontario at our clinic on Adelaide Street North.

You may also see it written as a jet peel. Both names mean the same treatment.

This guide covers how the treatment works, what it can help with, who it suits, and how to care for your skin after.

How does a JetPeel facial work?

JetPeel is a device made by a company called TavTech. It builds up air pressure and uses it to turn liquid into a jet of tiny droplets.

According to the JetPeel FAQ from the maker, the air pressure reaches 6.5 bar, or 95 psi. The jet of air and serum moves at about 720 km/h.

The maker describes the work in stages. The jet first boosts circulation in the skin, then exfoliates it, and then delivers the serum.

The wand itself does not touch your face, and the maker calls the treatment non-contact. As the jet passes over the skin, it opens tiny channels in the surface. Serum moves through those channels and into the skin.

At Kontour, we choose a serum blend for your skin. Our blends use ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamins, which add moisture and feed the skin.

What happens during a JetPeel facial?

A JetPeel visit at our clinic follows five steps.

First, we look at your skin and pick the serum blend that fits it. Next, the jet lifts away dirt and dead skin cells.

Then the serum goes into your skin through the jet stream. The air and mist also help blood flow in the skin.

To finish, we give you a few simple steps for the next couple of days.

Does a JetPeel facial hurt?

No. Our clients describe it as a cool mist on the skin, and they find it relaxing. There are no needles at any point.

The maker says the jet never rubs the skin or causes friction. That is why the treatment is gentle enough for many people with sensitive skin.

What can a JetPeel facial help with?

Our JetPeel page names five skin concerns it can help improve. They are fine lines, rough texture, dark spots and uneven tone, acne and clogged pores, and dry or dull skin.

For fine lines and dry skin, the serum adds moisture and nutrients. That softens early signs of aging and brings back a healthy glow.

On rough patches, the treatment helps smooth the skin. On dark spots, it helps brighten them and even out your skin tone.

For acne, the jet cleans out pores and calms inflamed skin. You may be a good fit if any of these concerns sound like your skin.

Can a JetPeel facial replace Botox or fillers?

No. JetPeel works on the quality of your skin. It does not add volume, and it does not relax wrinkles.

Injectables do a different job, so the two can work side by side. Ask our team how a JetPeel facial fits with any injectable treatment you already have.

Who is a JetPeel facial a good fit for?

JetPeel suits nearly all skin types. That includes sensitive skin and skin that is prone to rosacea.

People often choose it because they want fresh, hydrated skin without needles or downtime. Some book one before a wedding, a party or a photo day. Others come in on a regular schedule to look after their skin through the year.

When should you wait before booking?

The maker lists some times when JetPeel is not recommended. These include open wounds, an active skin infection and an active herpes flare, such as a cold sore.

The maker also lists pregnancy and breastfeeding, because the device has not been tested in those groups. Other items on that list include severe sensitivity to cold, active asthma and some skin diseases. The full list is on the maker’s FAQ page.

Tell our team about any skin condition or health change at your consultation. We will help you decide whether to book now or wait.

Is there downtime after a JetPeel facial?

There is no downtime. You need no special preparation before your visit either.

For the days after, follow these simple steps.

  • Skip makeup right after the treatment.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Wear SPF every day to protect your skin.

How long does the glow last, and how often should you come in?

For most of our clients, the fresh look from one visit lasts 1 to 2 weeks. With a series of treatments, the changes in tone and texture build up.

For ongoing skin care, we suggest a JetPeel facial once a month. One session on its own is fine too, for example before a big event.

At your consultation, our team will help you plan a schedule that fits your skin and your calendar.
