A hair transplant moves follicles from the back of your head to the areas that are thin. It is surgery, and it suits some people better than others. It fits best when:
- Your hair loss has settled and is no longer changing fast
- There is a clear bald area, not thinning spread across the whole scalp
- There is enough thick hair at the back of the head to move
- You are ready for surgery, the recovery time and the cost that comes with it
If your hair is thinning but not gone, a non-surgical plan is often the better first step. A transplant moves hair, but it does not stop the rest of your hair from thinning.

FoLix is a fractional laser made for hair loss and cleared by Health Canada in 2025. It wakes up the scalp’s own healing response, with no needles and no downtime. It suits early to moderate thinning, but it cannot grow hair where follicles are gone.

Your own growth factors, placed in the scalp
We take a small sample of your blood, spin it to concentrate the platelets, and place it into the thinning areas. PRP is done as a series of visits. It suits early to moderate thinning, but it does not replace hair in bald spots.

Do you do hair transplants at Kontour?
No. We do not perform hair transplants. We offer non-surgical hair restoration, and we will tell you plainly if we think surgery would suit you better.
Can a non-surgical treatment work as well as a transplant?
They do different jobs. A transplant moves hair into bald areas. Non-surgical treatments help the follicles you have now grow stronger hair, which can help thinning hair but not a fully bald area.
Who is a good fit for non-surgical hair restoration?
Most often people with early to moderate thinning, a widening part, or shedding that has not settled. Women with thinning spread across the scalp are often a good fit too.
Can I try a non-surgical option first and have a transplant later?
Yes. Starting with a non-surgical plan does not rule out surgery later. If you are already planning surgery, ask your surgeon about timing before you start anything.
How long before I see results?
Hair grows slowly, so changes take months, not weeks. Most people need a series of sessions. We give you a realistic timeline at your consultation.
Is hair restoration covered by OHIP?
No. Cosmetic hair loss treatments are not covered by OHIP. We go over the plan and the costs with you before you commit to anything.
